Toronto's Manifesto Festival Gets Melanie Fiona, Airplane Boys, Junia-T
Summer may be winding down, but there are still plenty of festivals on the horizon before fall officially hits. Toronto's Manifesto Festival is set to host its ninth annual event from September 16 to 20, and organizers have unveiled the weekend's programming.
Operating under the year's theme of "One City," a press release declares: "Drake is not the only talent to have come out of the six and we aim to prove that this year!"
Leading the charge will be headliner Melanie Fiona, who will perform at Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday (September 19).
The festival will kick off on September 16 at the Hoxton with performances by GoldLink, KJ, Akua and Nino Brown, while September 17 will see dance performances courtesy of Moon Runners, BuccNFlvr, DisFUNKtional Family, DirtyHaus and Sparkle Motion, alongside music from DJ Illment, DJ Glo, Jester, Nora Tones, Bambii, DJ Soundbwoy and DJ D-Smooth at the Steamwhistle Brewery.
Events on September 18 will go down at Daniels Spectrum at Ada Slaight Hall with shows from Adria Kain, a l l i e, Spek Won, Clairmont II, City Fidelia, and Birthday Boy.
The main event at Yonge-Dundas Square on September 19 will see Fiona's set preceded by appearances from Pluto, Airplane Boys, Junia-T with Tassnata + Kemi, John River, the Posterz, OSIYM, the Extremities (Fresh Kils + Uncle Fester) with Relic, Wasiu, Kayo, Xolisa, Jai Nitai Lotus, Crossword, Savannah Ré, Noyz & Fateh and Ramsay Almighty.
The festival will wrap up with an art event at the Super Wonder Gallery on Sunday (September 20).
