After two cold nights, with the temperatures dropping to just above zero, and Saturday's recurring rain, Harvest Moon Festival campers in Clearwater, MB were in need of a little pick-me-up. Winnipeg's the Reverend Rambler delivered just that with an hour-long, early afternoon set of foot stomping, hand clapping, sing-a-long gospel at the Restaurant Stage. The Reverend, a.k.a. Matt Colpitts (vocals, guitar, percussion), was joined over the course of the hour by bandmates Greg Arcade (bass, guitar), sister Karly Colpitts (vocals) and the inimitable Sean Multan on harp, along with a rotating cast of extras, including Royal Canoe's Brendan Berg, as he performed a loose mix of gospel classics and original material.

Highlights included a rousing rendition of Hank Williams' "I Saw The Light," a number of tracks from Blind Willie Johnson's catalogue, and the closing cover of Scott H Biram's "Only Jesus." But it was the originals, off the Reverend's self-titled debut, that really got the people up from their seats and dancing en masse late in the set. One of the hardest working acts among Winnipeg's up and coming roots artists, the Reverend Rambler no doubt made some converts among the couple hundred festival-goers who were in attendance, while reaffirming the faith of those already converted.
